Let me tell you, this was a hard deck to build. There is no specific theme to this deck, which accounts for the generic name I called it. If you can think of a more creative name, let me know. When I sat down to build this deck, I had to think through what would make me win, and above is what I came up with. You need to look and see how many wins are in your deck. Some strategic cards are great, and they make your deck more competative, but what will make you win battles?
Authority of Christ is a perfect example of an instant win card. This will win you a lost soul, no questions asked. If you play this card well enough, as in late in the game, it could win you all the lost souls you need to be victorious. You just need to try and draw out all your opponents evil characters and hope that he/she doesn't have Kingdoms of the World in play. Another card I put in this deck is Furnace of God's Wrath. The ability to discard any evil character in play is huge, and if used on Paul, it cannot be prevented. Battle Prayer is in this deck to either draw out Furnace of God's Wrath from my draw pile (a last resort), or to re-draw it out of your discard pile (the main reason). Let me quickly go through the rest of the good colors. For purple, there is Reach of Desperation, which is great for deck drawing, but also a great way to get past immunity to play Authority of Christ. Great Faith is in there to either draw out Reach or Authority, whichever one I need most at the time. Annanias of Damascus is in there mainly to convert Saul to Paul, but he has pretty good iniative as well. Silver is an interesting color to put into this deck. I have had a lot of success with it so far. My silver is mostly battle by th numbers, just in case my opponent isn't ready to handle a numbers battle. Michael is in there just to be set-aside with Gathering of Angels. When he comes back, he has the ability to band to anyone. Since Michael and his abilities cannot be prevented, he can do many things once he comes back. He can band to your opponent, even through Wall of Protection, and he can band to other fight-by-the-numbers angels to create really high numbers for you, and a numbers battle. This is a devestating combination, and Michael is even good to draw the Christian Martyr away from your other heros, mainly Paul.
My evil side of this deck is, less refined, than my good. I have cards like Emperor Nero and Prince of this World in there just for their ability, nothing more. They can be great cards to either stall your opponent, or draw out their Angel of the Lord. There is a capute and Raiders' Camp theme for this deck. Grey naturally has a lot of capture cards, as does brown with Dungeon of Malchiah. Dungeon is a great card to play with King Zedekiah, with the abilities "Dungeon of Malchiah cannot be negated." Watch out, though, if your opponent is playing with Babylonians, you have to discard him. The Syrian Archer can be amazing if he's played right. Try to block with the archer, and then instantly discard a powerful hero from your opponent. Then if you have inititive, play Syrian Victory, capturing 2 more of your opponents heros, placing them in your Raiders' Camp. As for Fortress' you have Zaccheus in there to get these as fast as possible. I would go for Wall of Protection first, and then grab your Raiders' Camp and Kingdoms of the World. Storehouse is a great card, but not an essential card to the deck. Dragon Raid is in there to provide access, just in case. If you're having trouble with access to sites, try using Vengence of Eternal Fire to discard 2 sites AND Kingdoms of the World, a great card to play pre-Autority of Christ! You empty Kingdoms and then discard all evil characters. I only have 3 artifacts in this deck. Hezekiah's Signet Ring should always be out if you do not need the other two. You might have noticed my defense is all humans except for Prince of this World. So if you are coming up against a lot of demons, get Three Nails out there stat! And Holy of Holies is there just in case you come up against a numbers-oriented deck. I hope you learned some strategy here, it actually helps me to sit and write it all down. I've already spotted a few changed that need to be made :-) Until next time! ~Matt A |
