This deck was built from the foundation of my other deck, the 1.0. I used the same basic strategy, because I thought it worked, just not as well as it could. My goal was to streamline the strategy, and bring the deck size down. Obviously the deck size didn't change, but I feel like this deck is a more unified, whole deck. Let me explain...

There were some fundamental problems with the defense in 1.0. There was a strong Gray presence, which holds 1st place for capturing. I was fairly successful with the capture strategy, but I found it wasn't giving me enough successful blocks. It was like a backup strategy that, because of my lack of power in defense, became my weak-main strategy. I decided to switch out all my defensive cards except 2, Emperor Nero and Prince of this World.

I went with Black and Crimson, because of their power, and nothing else. I still wanted to capture, though. I decided to go with Unholy Writ in the artifacts, because of it's instant ability when you block, if you even choose to block! So far, this card has worked very well, in regionals as well as just playing with Marcus. I also like that it is an additional artifact in my deck. I have come to realize that having artifact versatility can be very powerful. Being able to use the specific artifacts that help you in specific situations is a great tool and devastating to your opponent.

Some of the other cards that I added to the evil side are Wrath of Satan, Deceit of Sapphira, and Joseph in Prison. Some of these cards add great instant-win scenarios, like being able to discard all cards in the field of battle, as well as discarding all heroes in play. I have found that because of Wrath, Goshen becomes necessary to keep your heroes alive.

Now, after the changes, I feel like my defense can now keep up with the quality of the offense. There is a more balanced feel to the deck now. I used to feel rushed in my games with 1.0, because I felt like I had to rescue everything quickly, because my defense couldn't last to the late game. I now have a renewed confidence in my evil side.

My offense basically stayed the same, with only a few minor changes. The silver aspect is still in there, only smaller. I felt like I was trying to build 3 strong offensive colors into the deck, thus spreading it out too thin. I kept my main strategy in Silver, and discarded everything else. So far The Strong Angel is by far my most powerful silver card. Now Silver is my back-up, or my utility color. I focused most of my power, then, into purple and gold. I added Mary's Prophetic Act in gold. This card is great, because if you have initiative, there is nothing your opponent can do about it.

I switched out all my purple heroes. I found no more use for Ananias of Damascus, because I took Saul/Paul out. I decided to add King David. Although his numbers are too high for my taste, his ability is very powerful. I felt it necessary only because I, myself, was facing WAY too many kings and royal-folk. It definitely forces your opponent to make decisions he or she might not want to make.

So this is the last version of my deck. It will come apart soon to usher in a new era for me in deck building. For these 2 versions of decks, I relied only on my tried-and-true methods. I am now interested in exploring new colors and ideas in decks. Not that I'm tired of playing with the same cards over and over again, it's just me wanting to discover new and unique strategies that will hopefully become new standards for me in the future.
